Description

This is a medium-sized fine art print (33 x 33 cm) of a mixed-media drawing by Graham Brace. For this artwork we are doing a limited print run of 100 highest quality prints on Hahnemuhle Photorag 188gsm fine art paper.

Graham is a highly accomplished Pembrokeshire artist who is renowned for his skills with coloured pencils which he often supplements with soft pastels, gouache, markers and pens.  On our website we are showing a selection of his beautiful compositions drawn from local geological subjects.

Rookwood Art & Print captures artwork images in digital format using high resolution photography / scanning, or works from high quality digital images provided by the artist (Graham’s artwork images were kindly provided by Marcus Bunce of New Leaf Giclée).  We maintain careful colour management throughout the print production process to reproduce the colours used by the artist as accurately as possible.  We produce fine art prints using the giclée method of digital printing to the Fine Art Trade Guild standards: they are printed at minimum 300 – 600dpi resolution using an industry leading Epson SureColor P9500 printer with premium UltraChrome Pro12 inks which provide exceptional 99% coverage of the PANTONE solid-coated colour standard; and they are printed on an archival, acid-free heavy-weight paper to suit the type of artwork, in order to produce long-lasting high quality prints.  Independently rated by Wilhelm Imaging Research Inc. the UltraChrome PRO12 Inks result in prints lasting up to 200 years for colour and 400 years for black-and-white.

Graham Brace

I was born and brought up in Milford Haven and I studied Graphic Design at Cardiff College of Art in the late 1960’s. After working in advertising in London for 8 years, I returned to Pembrokeshire and ran a graphic design and advertising consultancy for over 20 years in Haverfordwest before taking up painting and drawing seriously in l999. I now work as a full time professional artist and illustrator producing landscape and seascape paintings, and a range of limited edition prints. Private and corporate commissions take up much of my time and in recent years I have been involved in major illustration projects for the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, Vale of Glamorgan County Council and Derwent (the Cumberland Pencil Company). My work has been widely published. I have been featured in several art magazines including ‘Artist and Illustrator’, ‘Pratique Des Arts’ (France) and ‘Color Magazine’ (USA). I have also been a regular contributor to national magazines like ‘The Artist’ and various reference books on drawing technique.

I have exhibited in one man and group exhibitions throughout Pembrokeshire and other parts of the UK and my work exists in many private collections around the world.

I am a founder member of the United Kingdom Coloured Pencil Society. Although coloured pencil predominates in my work, I frequently use a mixture of other media including soft pastel, watercolour, ink and gouache. I like to draw things precisely and I work from a combination of my own photographs, sketches, notes and memory. I am an inveterate observer and I am fascinated by reflections in water, the effects of light, texture and the natural forms and surfaces of trees and rocks. I am drawn to the features within the landscape as much as the wider view itself. I am particularly interested in rock forms and natural features which have an abstract quality and often appear to be deliberately conceived rather than formed by natural forces and processes.

The spectacular coast and countryside of Pembrokeshire, and in particular the estuary alongside which I live at Llangwm, provides me with endless inspiration and ideas.
